Capers

Caper is a Mediterranean plant with small aromatic flower buds, known as the stone orchid of Dalmatia, since it commonly grows in stones or walls. One of the most distant and inhabited islands of the Šibenik Archipelago – Island of Kaprije was named after this plant. Round green buds of capers are pickled or salted, providing a special flavour in various sauces, salads, pasta, fish and meat.
